The Passive Infrared ("PIR") sensor is an electronic device that measures infrared light radiating from objects in its field of view. Motion is detected when an infrared source with one temperature passes another.
The PIR sensor is used as an alternative to the Software Motion Detection feature in iCAMView PRO units. It is connected to iCAMView through the RS232 interface. Once connected to iCAMView PRO, an additional selection called "PIR" under Advanced Settings --> Motion Detection --> Detection Mode [ see image ] will be selectable.
Once set, if there is an unexpected intrusion within the PIR field of view, the PIR will immediately signal iCAMView PRO to start video recording.
PIR is usually applied for regional protection. They are mainly installed in important rooms, on the wall/ceiling, or main passageway.
